Job Summary
MathWorks China is seeking an experienced marketing communications professional to successfully plan, manage, implement, and evaluate marketing programs across multiple industry and application areas. The Marketing Programs Specialist will work closely with the marketing team at US headquarters and the China marketing, sales, and engineering teams to develop a strategy for the China market leveraging corporate resources while taking into consideration local market dynamics. The Marketing Programs Specialist will be responsible – together with other relevant China Marketing Programs staff - for all marketing programs and corresponding budget in China, including lead generation, awareness building, and sales-support activities. In addition, he/she is responsible for ensuring successful relationships with vendors and managing the local marketing systems and processes.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement China Marketing Programs strategies and plans:
- In alignment with China sales objectives and the MathWorks product and technology strategies
- With the goal of achieving the right balance in, and optimal results from, the local marketing model, i.e. awareness building, lead generation and sales-support
- While taking into account the varying market drivers in different industries (such as electronics, communications, automotive and aerospace/defense) and market sectors (i.e. commercial, government and education)
- While also undertaking regular analysis of lead generation, awareness and ROI results so as to make recommendations for the evolution of the Marketing Programs plan based on findings
- With a focus on managing local programs but also able to take on regional projects when needed
Lead Generation Events
- Successfully develop and implement a plan that includes a mix of traditional and emerging lead generating activities and methods ensuring consistent lead and sales opportunity generation throughout the year
- Conferences: Manage the planning, implementation, and analysis of large conference events
- Public Seminars: Manage local promotion, venue set-up, development of web-based response pages, logistics, registration, and lead submission and other post-event processes
- Partner Seminars: Engage with partners to successfully plan and implement events, including promotional plan, content, speaker requirements and lead sharing
- Private Seminars: Work with the local sales organization to plan seminars at prospect and customer sites
- Webinars: Manage local promotion efforts and work with Corporate to define local requirements to support this lead generation program
- Successfully employ and work with vendors to support lead-generating program activities
Web Programs
In close collaboration with Corporate Programs team:
- Help optimize Web-based content and plan and implement Web-based campaigns to drive prospects and customers to our on-line marketing and sales initiatives.
- Implement SEO strategies for search engines such as Google and Baidu
- Leverage social computing networks to promote to and communicate with ML&SL user communities
- Analyze and report on the results of Web initiatives
- Act as advisor for localization requirements for the China website
Awareness Building
- Tradeshows: Together with local sales and corporate programs teams, help determine guidelines for tradeshow participation, maintain a directory of relevant China shows for planning and participation purposes, and manage set-up, logistics, lead submission, and other post-event activities for local technology conferences and partner shows
- Public Relations: Together with local sales and corporate PR, develop and implement a local PR plan, including local media targets; also manage the local PR agency and relationships with top-tier publications
- Print and Online Advertising: Together with corporate ad team, identify relevant media and related readership and click-through rates, ad placement plans, and budget management
- User stories: Support the local sales effort by developing user stories about Chinese customers
Qualifications Required / Preferred
- Bachelors required
- Between 2-5 years experience in B2B or high-tech marketing (software industry experience desirable)
- Marcomm experience - seminars, trade shows, DM/e-DM, PR, ads, Web marketing
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required
- Solid organizational and project management skills
- Strong team player
